Network Nature’s аnnual event focused on exploring nature-based solutions (NbS) in policy and practice. It took place on 27-28 September, 2022 in Brussels, Belgium and provided the opportunity to learn more about the state-of-the-art developments in the realm of NbS.
NetworkNature is a resource for the NbS community, which aims to bridge the European policy landscape and with the realm of NbS and to maximise the impact and spread of NbS through strengthening its evidence base, engaging with stakeholders, and thus accelerating NbS uptake.
The event was focused on Network Nature’s semester theme “Nature-based solutions and Standards” and its purpose was ensuring that the quality, effectiveness and scale of implementation of NbS can help deliver the European Green Deal and tackle the challenges related to biodiversity, climate change, and socio-economic development.
NICHES project coordinator McKenna Davis from Ecologic Institute in Berlin and NICHES partner Johannes Langemeyer from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, attended the event. Useful exchanges were fostered both on and off-stage and provided a valuable opportunity to share the aims and activities of NICHES and get in touch with other project representatives and explore complementary topics. NICHES had the chance to interact with projects such as IN-HABIT, EuPOLIS, GoGreenRoutes, VARCITIES, etc.
The event aimed to foster the exchange of knowledge, capacity building, and dialogue across stakeholders and sectors as a means to develop joint action for upscaling NbS. Featuring representatives from a wide range of European-funded projects (e.g. from Biodiversa+ and Horizon Europe), the event took stock of achievements across these projects and provided the opportunity to learn more about the state-of-the-art developments in NbS evidence, practice, and policy.
